Welcome to the Seelie Midsummer Event! We’re hosting this as an attempt to do something different with our plots here on Obsidian Butterfly. Instead of one great big thread, or several mini group threads, we’re trying this out as a ‘drive-by’ thread event where you can spend some of those tokens you’ve been stocking up or the board currency that is otherwise rotting in order to get new, interesting items custom-made for you! Sound interesting? ;D Keep reading to find out more!
SETTING & PURCHASES This event considers of a “faire” of sorts. Taking place in the Seelie sithen in an area secluded from the majority of habitation, there are several stalls set up for people to come in and purchase different fey-made products – items, food, weaponry, even appearance alterations. Some of these enchantments are permanent while some are not. The stall keepers are all fey, who have been assigned to help out, and the profits coming from this event will be donated to damages from the ‘television show promotion’ (read: The Wild Hunt) last August. Permanent purchases (so weapons or items permanently enchanted, or anything with a permanent effect) will cost tokens, but will usually be cheaper than the token prize list. Temporary purchases (items with a limited effect that become normal after a while – or things that wear off) will cost board currency (bc). Your character will be given “tickets” at their entrance into the festival – red tickets are tokens, blue tickets are board currency (10k per blue ticket), for IC bartering purposes. Descriptions of your purchases will be provided once money/etc has been taken, and they will be mostly custom written for you. The more expensive they are, the more detail we’ll put into them, of course. You will be able to find a list of “inventory” in each shop; these are not the only items the shops have, but are simply to give you a ballpark idea of what you can buy if you’re not feeling especially creative. Please feel free to contact the staffer running it if you have alternate ideas! The threads themselves will work very simply – you’ll be able to post your character coming in and interacting with the stall keeper. Once you make the purchase, you can wander off and ‘exit’ the thread. As soon as you have ‘exited’, the item is yours to play with as you see fit~ A big thing to note: If you’re spending board currency, it must be available on the character that is spending it. In other words, if you have 300,000 on one character, but 5,000 on another, you cannot use the money from the first character to buy an item for the second. Sorry!
ATTENDANCE & THREADS Literally everyone (human, fey, lycanthrope, vampire, even the Unseelie) is invited to attend this event. If you have a character you’d like to attend, please feel free to have them hopping shops and wandering around. It doesn’t matter what they are – we want this to be fun for everyone. You can also make separate threads with your characters mingling, or sitting at tables eating, the works. This is your chance to explore a little piece of faerie! Just please remember that your characters would only have access to the areas with the stalls, not the residences of the Seelie Court. While it’s still pretty, you’re really unlikely to run into anything especially strange here~ But… maybe? (Disclaimer: we will be posting the executioner and meddling some – so have fun.) Feel free to “drive by” post here as well (meaning, you can post once or twice to buy an item and then leave again, you’re not obligated to socialize with the stall keepers). You can make as many threads as you want for each stall (please label them appropriately so that the right staffer can moderate it), but it's encouraged to join existing ones to interact with the characters there. Do as ye will. There will be a group thread near the conclusion of this event in order to allow everyone to mingle. Details on the group thread itself will be posted closer to time for its reveal, though. In the meantime, have fun mingling!
START & END DATE As this event started on June 25th, it will be running a full 2 weeks and will conclude on July 22nd at noon. Threads opened before this conclusion can continue – but please don’t make any more threads after that! And the stalls themselves will, of course, be closed.
AND PRIZES? Usually for events like these, we reward your participation with tokens. That won’t be the case this time. Sorry, folks – but this is a chance to get some cool prizes for cheaper than our token cost, with an IC story for them, and if you don’t want to attend, you don’t have to. We admit it: this is a token/money sink as a way to get people to spend ‘em and have fun while doing it. So no, there will be no special prizes from this event. Just as a forewarning~ |
