-- Yeah, this is a given - but just so everyone knows, the formal King/Queen of a group has to be either an Alpha or Master (exempting the fey). That doesn't mean you can't 'lead' a group that doesn't have an Alpha or Master - it just means you can't have the title until you get Alpha or Master.

In the case of the fey, rulers are of a specific biological bloodline. While we'll let people play royalty on a limited scale, all things relating to fey rulers need to be discussed with the staff. This doesn't mean that's a no - it just means to make one, you need to get in touch with us first!


02. You cannot make a character's "mate" without permission.
-- If one of the groups has a King without a Queen, you need the permission of the person playing the King to take the title of Queen, so to speak. We're not going to approve you for it, because 2/3s the time, this refers to the leader's lover. The only time you may use this title is if the leader's player has approved you for it and let us know.

03. Leaders must be posted every 2-3 days.
-- You are required, when you RP the King or Queen of a group, to post every 2-3 days in some thread. It doesn't matter what one, as long as your character is out there and is active visibly. This is important so that people know you're trying to remain visible in the community.

04. When it comes time for your species' Full Moon month, you are required to run it.
-- Full moon threads last one week. You are obligated to create a full moon thread, post in it every day (even if that means skipping people) and make it interesting. You will only get a full moon thread once every eight months or something, so this is not something that will happen often. Plan ahead and have fun with it!

05. You should create regular group threads.
-- Group threads with your species doing something - anything - are a staple for keeping your group active. Be it rebuilding their home, running a barbecue, et cetera - if you're playing a leader, you should be willing to go out on a limb. We don't have a specific requirement for how long you can go between them, but try to keep one up every couple of months to keep things interesting. It's common sense rules here, really.

06. Know your groups. Communicate with them.
-- If you're playing a leader, you should be able to be in communication with the players of members of your groups. Maybe this means sending them PMs to find out what's going on with their character, or maybe it means threading with them. Whatever it is, you should know what's going on with your group. Usually hanging out in the cbox will help with this, but if you're someone with limited time, don't be afraid to shoot PMs to people!

02. Group threads are mandatory not voluntary.
-- When you sign up to play an alpha or master, you're expected to regularly contribute to the group you're involved in. That means if your leader opens a group thread, you are expected to post in it regularly and not abandon it. We're not talking random 2-3 people. We mean full moons, or major group threads that involve the majority of your species. If you can't commit to posting in these regularly, you will lose your alpha/master status. For Project Erinyes characters, this goes for your dominant beast. If you're playing, say, a Fox/Swan posing as a member of the Skulk, you should treat it as if you're an alpha of that group, too. And yes, we will be revoking alpha status for the Project Erinyes characters as well.

03. Increasing powers happens over time.
-- As you play your alpha/master and maintain activity, you will be able to gradually (as in every six months or so) have them gain a new power. You can contact a staff member if you think your character is eligible for one.

04. Titles are a privilege, not a right.
-- In our portfolios, we offer to let you select what title you think your character should have. Please note that this is considered the title you're aspiring for, not one you'll get by default. That's decided by the leader of your specific group. Have them contact a staff member if your alpha or master is gaining a title.

05. Human/Animal servants must be approved by staff.
-- As a general rule, when you pick a human or animal servant, we won't care. But just to be clear and fair to everyone, please verify that the person you're picking is okay. Human/animal servants gain powers from their masters, and if someone has too many 'specials' we might ask you to stick with Pomme-de-Sang instead, just to be fair to everyone. This will probably be rare, but just in case, you know?

06. Triumvirates are rare and should only occur on a very small basis.
-- In other words, 9 times out of 10, if you ask for a triumvirate, you're not going to be approved for it. You may have an animal servant OR a human servant, and pomme-de-sangs do not require approval from staff, but if you want to mark them all, verify with us that your character is powerful enough to do so. The answer will likely be no, but if you can justify it, we might change our minds. Just a heads up.

07. Alphas and Masters are achieved through our portfolio system.
-- Unless you have specific administrator approval (or received them through a roulette), your character will not start out as a Master or Alpha. You can gain this status by going through our Portfolio system. You may also achieve alpha or master through our Challenges (as that is a sometimes-reward) and through the tokens system. It's not that hard - we promise.

08. Do unto others.
-- Because it has come up: those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. The staff monitors alpha and master activity closely and we try our best to be fair. If you're someone who complains about other people -- know in advance: the second you come to us about someone else's activity, you have our full attention. If you're following all the alpha rules to the letter, that shouldn't be a problem. But make sure you are, because we don't like it when you complain about others doing something you do. Consider this your only warning.

The same goes for complaining, in general, about other people play their characters. If you're one of those individuals who feels the need to complain that a character has "too many powers" and is "power hungry" - we're going to be paying more attention to you, too. We monitor this. And we don't appreciate it when you give our members sass for it. That's our job, not yours.

-- Yeah. We said it. There have been incidents where people seemed to think that because we don't allow godmoding, they can play their character spitting in the face of their respective group's leader and get off scratch free. So, from now on, if you're making a rogue who knowingly refuses to join a group, you should consider this: Leaders have permission to hurt your characters within limits, and if your character still doesn't join and keeps running into leaders of their group, they also have permission to kick them out of town.

What does this mean for you? If you're RPing a rogue permanently, you can expect a lot of drama and conflict. You can expect your character to get their butt kicked. You can also expect us not to help you. Our recommendation is to avoid RPing with your respective group if you're a rogue and don't want conflict. But then - being a rogue and eventually joining is fun too, right? ;3

04/04/13 - ADDENDUM - Remember that ALPHAS of a species can sense non-alpha rogues in their cities. If you are playing a rogue and the leader is prone to killing rogues, you MUST come to an understanding with the leader's player. We will not force people to play their characters OOC. It is a good idea to check the HQ St. Louis threads to verify how each group handles things!


03. Rogue characters have no protection.
-- In other words: If we have a plot where human-supremists are attacking shapeshifters or vampires, your rogue is probably going to be the top of the list to get attacked. Expect it.

04. You don't have to stay rogue!
-- If your character is new to town and you want them to join the group and just RP the joining, that's not the same thing as being rogue. We mean specifically people who refuse to join groups on principle. And true rogues can eventually join their groups in plots if they want, too. We encourage this!

-- While our human powers have a pretty comprehensive list of unique powers (and we pride ourselves on the variety), if you have something cool that you think would suit your character and would be very fun to roleplay, you're welcome to throw the idea to us in a PM to verify it's okay. Odds are, we'll approve it, and if not, we'll tell you how to get it to where we'll let you have it.

04. You must stay active to keep a unique power.
-- If you have a unique power on one of your characters, you must remain active to keep it. That means posting them around once a week. This is mainly to avoid people stocking up powers on characters they don't play just to have a stock 'powerful' character.

Otherwise, they follow the portfolio rules for gaining alpha status. All lycanthropes are able to have alphas. If you're unclear what qualifies as lycanthropy, please just ask a staff member.

03. Panweres on Obsidian Butterfly consist of three or more shifter strains.
-- If you only have 2 beasts, you're still going to remain in your main beast's group. But if your character has more than two, they qualify for the Panwere usergroup. Please contact a staff member if you're unsure.
